2012 Oscar Fashion Favorites

I admit I didn't even watch the 84th Annual Academy Awards last night, but I did check the highlights and red carpet wardrobe! I don't know about you, but I was not all that impressed by the gowns worn to the award show this year. Though, I did have two favorites: Octavia Spencer and Kristen Wiig.

Octavia Spencer, winner of Best Supporting Actress for The Help, knows how to play up her shape in figure-flattering gowns. I really enjoyed this white, gorgeously-beaded Tadashi Shoji dress.

Oscar nominee and presenter Kristen Wiig was simply stunning in a tiered tulle J. Mendel gown and understated jewelry. Personally, I loved her hair! The soft, undone waves complimented her neutral look.

Now, the dresses to "be seen in" were the ones that the stars wore to one of the many viewing and after-parties! A few of my favorite looks...

At Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards viewing party, The Vampire Diaries actress Nina Dobrev stunned in a black J. Mendel gown from the Fall '12 runway. Her fishtail braid was also a nice change from the more formal up-dos.

Sporting their adorable baby bumps, Alessandra Ambrosio in Roberto Cavalli and Kourtney Kardashian in a white Grecian Raoul dress were both glowing!

And over at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party in a patriotic red, white and blue...

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley wore a tomato-red gown by Antonio Berardi. Red dresses are super-hot this season!

Sofia Vergara looked stunning in a white Roberto Cavalli gown. I love the sheer lace overlay, which gives a sexy hint of leg.

Leslie Mann wore a seqiun navy gown also by Roberto Cavalli. Navy is the new black for spring and summer. I love navy dresses, and this is no exception, though I think the dress would have looked better without a ruffled train.

Did you love a look that I did not cover? If so, share it in the comments!

Thirty-One Gifts

Last night, I did a Stella & Dot Trunk Show for my Hostess, Patti Salzman, who is also a Thirty-One Consultant. I had heard of the company, being in the direct sales business, but I did not really know much about it - and I know many of my friends probably have never heard of the company.

Thirty-One is a line of stylish and affordable products - from utility totes to on-the-go essentials to storage solutions that help organize your life. Each season, they develop new products in super-cute signature and customizable patterns that are both functional AND fashionable (and, of course, make great gifts!). After browsing through their catalog, I found a reason to buy at least one of each item, as well as a purpose and use for everything! Ultimately, I decided on a few favorites and must-haves for my lifestyle...

Need a cute work tote? Try the Casual Cargo Purse or the Retro Metro Tote! I love the "Lotsa Dots" material print. It's the perfect neutral print - a gray-ish khaki color with brown trim. I need a new work tote bag, so my personal favorite is the Casual Cargo Purse. I will also use it as a carry-on when traveling.

Hauling a lot of materials around... say, Look Books, binders, order forms, mini Look Books and more for Trunk Show, like me? Try the Utility Tote. This oversized bag is perfect for holding a LOT! It also has a covered metal rim that keeps the bag open to carry bulky items and then easily collapses for storage. (Again, I love it in the Lotsa Dots print.)

Traveling overnight or for a short, weekend trip? Try the City Weekender Tote or the Retro Metro Weekender. The City Weekender Tote combines all the best of a travel tote and a duffel bag, and comes in three quilted paisley print colors: brown, gray and black. I love the brown and gray for something different.

The Retro Metro Weekender has a little more room inside, but still a great tote to take along on any trip. With five pockets and a spacious interior, there is plenty of space to store everything you need! It comes in three whimsical prints, but I like the Black Paisley Parade print for this bag.

This was just too cute to pass up! If you are looking for a cute identification tag for your bag, the Cupcake Icon Hang Tag is a must-have.

With a million and one different uses, the Zipper Pouch is another small bag that everyone must have! I plan to use it to carry my calculator, pens, order forms and mini Look Books for Trunk Shows, and then to hold all of my important documents (in my carry-on bag) while traveling. You could also use it for storing jewelry, medicine, cards, recipes, makeup, receipts – ANYTHING! My favorite prints are the Awesome Blossom, Herringbone Spot and Pin Dots with Cupcakes!

If you are in the Austin, Texas area and would like to host your own Thirty-One Gifts party, please contact Patti or visit the website to find your nearest consultant!

O2 Designs: Pink Pearl Swing

After obsessively following The Possessionista, I was introduced to a gorgeous hand-made jewelry company, O2 Designs, created by Oznette (Ozzie) Osbourne and her mother-in-law, Raquel. Last summer, I fell in love with her Swing necklaces, which I had also seen featured on PeopleStyleWatch.com! I followed Ozzie's creations and success through Twitter and Facebook, as her jewelry has been spotted on various celebrities, including Halle Berry, Jewel, Alyssa Milano and my friend, Natalie Getz!

Shortly after discovering the Swing necklaces, I also learned that Ozzie custom-designed pieces for her customers! Wanting something unique, delicate and pretty, I inquired about having a pearl swing necklace created just for me. A few weeks later, a Pink Pearl Swing necklace arrived.

I absolutely ADORE this necklace! It is has about one inch of pink pearl beads on a 16" 14k gold-filled chain, but it is also available in a gold-filled 18" chain or a 16" or 18" sterling silver chain.

I love to wear it layered with either one of my Stella & Dot delicate necklaces, the Ever After or the On the Mark, or my adorable Maya Brenner W Initial necklace. To finish the look, I prefer to pair these dainty necklaces with simple Stella & Dot Essential Gold Studs.

Stella & Dot - Delicates

Much to my surprise (but not really, because it's a beautiful piece), Ozzie added the Pink Pearl Swing necklace to her design collection! Check out the Pink Pearl Swing and more of O2 Designs' beautiful, hand-crafted pieces at o2designsonline.com.

Friday Favorites - February 17

Thank goodness it's Friday. Tonight, I'm headed to the Alamo Drafthouse in Austin with a friend to see "This Means War" and get my Chris Pine/Reese Witherspoon fix. So plans changed and my friend's husband wound up with pneumonia - and it became an Italian takeout and DVR kind of night. Plus the weather is rainy so I'm looking forward to curling up on the couch.

This week's round-up of my favorite finds:

Joie - Agata Dress in Caviar

Miranda Kerr - I love this entire outfit: a cute white tee, peachy-pink straight leg or skinny jeans and a pair of nude sandals. It would also look great with a few gold bangles or a delicate necklace and sparkly studs! I just may have to do an outfit inspiration post on this look.

LOFT's brand ambassadors, the "LOFT Girls", gathered up pieces from the spring collection and paired together their favorites. Quite a few of their looks are now my new favorites. It looks like I'll be making a stop by the LOFT store this weekend, plus everything is 30% off for President's Day Weekend!

“Thanks to LOFT, I started wearing brightly colored pants late last year and never looked back! The look is still easy and casual, but more unique than basic blue denim. I love pairing a striped top with bold pants like these yellow ones.” Haley Marie Dillon, LOFT Girl Dallas, TX

I am thinking these could not only be great outfits for spring, but also the Texas Style Council conference or my birthday trip to New York!

Spring 2012 Color Palette - Bold, Bright Colors
Stella & Dot is right on trend with the bold jewels and accessories to match the gorgeous spring 2012 color trends. I have worn neutrals all winter and I cannot wait to add these pops of color into my spring/summer wardrobe - and accessorize them with pieces from the amazing Spring 2012 Stella & Dot Collection!

February Birchbox

For a beauty samples and product lover, Birchbox is one of the best creations a girl could find! With a Birchbox subscription, four to five hand-picked deluxe samples are delivered to your door for $10 per month.

Brains meet Beauty: Co-founders Hayley Barna and Katia Beauchamp met at Harvard Business School and founded Birchbox with the goal of sharing the beauty's best products and insider tips minus the hassle! Through a personal beauty profile about your regimen, needs and product preferences, Birchbox curates a box of four to five luxe beauty samples that fit your routine needs and delivers them to your door each month.

As a beauty product-aholic, I love samples! Trial size versions of products are the ultimate way to test new brands or change up your daily or go-to product (and great for traveling!). I received my first Birchbox in January, which consisted of concealer, eye serum, a perfume, a mini nail polish and granola snack mix samples!

The arrival of my Birchbox in January was such a lovely treat that I decided to continue my monthly membership. I was so excited to receive my February Birchbox that I had to share the contents!

February's Birchbox came with:
  • A card for a free download of one of my favorite music groups from Ft. Worth, Texas, Green River Ordinance: If you haven't heard "Dancing Shoes", download it! Plus, they have a new album coming out in 2 weeks.
  • Violent Lips - Lip Tattoos: I could have completely done without these as I will never use them. (I would have rather received a beautyblender®, which I saw in other Birchboxes on Pinterest.)
  • Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant®: I'm thrilled to try this! This is a "just add water" exfoliant so it will be great to try in the shower. Lately, my skin has been combination - but mostly dry due to the lack of humidity in the cooler temperatures.
  • BENTA BERRY G-1 Moisturizing Face Cream: My dry winter skin always loves a good moisturizer - and its Parisian!
  • Supersmile Powdered Mouthrinse: Another "just add water" product! This powdered mouth rinse whitens and freshens.
  • Jouer Luminizing Moisture Tint: An oil-free, tinted moisturizer with SPF 20 - also rated "Best in Beauty" by Allure
For your monthly beauty samples subscription, please sign up using my Birchbox referral link!

Pinterest + Nail Polish

My new obsession: Pinterest.
My existing obsession: Nail polish.

It comes as no surprise that my newest digital obsession is Pinterest, an online inspiration/vision board with collections of theme-based images. My favorite images to pin include various ideas for outfits, makeup applications, hairstyles, and of course, nail polish colors. A recent pin lead me to Essie's Lady Like.

Essie - Fall Nail Polish Collection 2011- Limited Edition (Lady Like) - Beauty

Essie Lady Like - Natural Light
This is great as a neutral with just a hint of color. While it is described as "an elegant soft mauve", it has more of a grey-ish purple tint. I just had a manicure this past weekend, so I plan to keep this color on as long as it lasts - which will hopefully be about 2 weeks with the most amazing top coat, Seche Vite.

Seche Vite - Dry Fast Top Coat
For all of you nail polish and manicure lovers (like me!), I highly suggest investing in purchasing this top coat. Every time I have a professional manicure or paint them myself, I can get at least a week and a half of wear using this top coat. It also gives your manicure a smooth, shiny and glass-top finish! I use it every time I paint my nails, which is often, as I have a TON of nail colors. One of my goals is to catalog all of the colors I have, because I often see a color that I love, buy it... only to go home and realize, I already have it.
